Mickey Plyler's Blog: Our Rivalry

Our Rivalry

Our Rivalry
Before Clemson opened its doors, we had a rivalry with the University of South Carolina. Many at South Carolina never wanted Clemson to happen and the rivalry began.

One thing has not changed. We don't like each other. We don't like each other's campuses. We don't like ea

I strongly agree Clemson's stock is rising. Dabo is the right man, and a commitment to keeping first class coordinators must continue. I also wonder if the coots can keep rising, especially after the Ole Ball Sack leaves. I can tell by his "go to the beach" comments (Ron Morris dustup) that he does not care about USC any more than us Tiger fans do.

As always appreciate the Blog, Mickey! However,

I must point out that if we win 11 games this year it will not be the 2nd time. It will be the fourth. We were 12-0 in 1981, 11-1 in 1978, and 11-0 in 1948.

for not referring to rival head coach as a rat. Much more classy today Mickey.

IMO

the coots peaked last year. I think that is as good as they are going to get. Now with us, I believe we are turning the corner and building something that will com pete year in and year out

BRING BACK BIG THURSDAY!

Let's have the Carolina-Clemson game at a neutral site (alternate between Charlotte and Atlanta) on Thanksgiving every year. Sort of like Georgia-Florida at the Gator Bowl. It would bring more national recognition for both teams. We need our own Cocktail Party.

Peaked????

Nov 22, 2012, 6:06 PM

Good lord that sounds desperate. USC has been blessed with some great talent, just like Clemson. We recruit and evaluate well, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm sure you hope we have peaked. But we will continue to recruit and evaluate well. Remember, Lattimore played about one half of football against Clemson in his career. Clowney has played one game as a second stringer. Melvin Ingram didn't develop until late in his career. Wishful thinking Mickey. Clemson may average more victories over the next few years, but that happens when you play ACC ball.

Good luck this weekend. Should be a good one.

The problem with Mickey's analysis is that SCAR recruits

Nov 25, 2012, 12:29 AM

very closely to Clemson's level. Yes, they lose players. But they do that every year. Then someone steps up to replace them. I'm sick and tired of hearing that SCAR will be crippled with the loss of a senior here, a senior there, a coach here and a coach there. Then the following year, they kick our butts anyway. I'm sick and tired of it.
