Clemson to look at adding Oklahoma St. back to schedule

Clemson will look to see if it can reinstate the home-and-home series against Oklahoma St., scheduled for 2019-20. In the meantime, however, opponents need to be found for both 2013 and 2014. Full Story »

You should get away from the sport of FB b/c only the strong survive. We have to play and beat the best to be the best. When we fail, we must try again and succeed. Goooo Tigersssss!!!

Like I said when Notre Dame ended their series with Michigan

Oct 4, 2012, 1:18 PM

go out and sign that game up right now.

Clemson at Michigan would be epic.

I'd also love to see the Maize and Blue playing in Death Valley.

They'd fit nicely into that '16,'17 slot. Love it!

This is a great resource for looking into this stuff. I don't think it's 100% accurate but pretty darn close.

UGA ('13,'14) ND('15,'18,'21) Okla.St.('19,'20), ??('16,'17)

Oct 4, 2012, 1:18 PM

unless he's thinking of playing ND and Oklahoma St. in the same year, I think we know now which years we're going to play the Irish. Is this news or am I just the last to know?

This is the first I've seen any year mentioned for ND games.

Oct 4, 2012, 1:22 PM

I may have missed in previously. If they haven't, they need to be getting it locked down soon so the ADs for all 14 schools can get the holes in their schedule filled.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm just guessing, but you see my logic?

Oct 4, 2012, 1:26 PM

He says he wants to play thos games in 2019 and 2020

The Dude abides

That's what I've been assuming as well.

Oct 4, 2012, 3:55 PM

I haven't seen anywhere that has been made official but seems to be the most logical years we'd play them.

You would surely think we could find two mid-majors to fill those openings the next two years.

I'm guessing we play ND home in 2015 and away in 2018 and home in 2021 and so on.

That would mean we essentially only have openings in 2016 and 2017, if we can get OK St. back in 2019 and 2020.

I think GA still has those dates open and I've read recently that they'd like to play us again.

After that we don't have openings until 2022 and 2023 and 2025 and 2026.

I don't see how we'd be able to play in a Chick-Fil-A type game again with our desire to have 7 home games and any big name team requiring that we do a home and home with them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Something I don't understand...if we were going to a nine

Oct 4, 2012, 1:33 PM

game conference schedule, why does adding ND allow schools to go back to eight games?

Or was there no rhyme or reason for going to nine games except $$ and with ND included, the conference gets extra $$$?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Too much of a schedule crunch

Oct 4, 2012, 1:41 PM

For the 5 teams per year that got Notre Dame, they would have had 9 conference games PLUS Notre Dame, only allowing them to schedule 2 additional games.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And then schools like us, FSU, & GT, we all have our

Oct 4, 2012, 1:48 PM

the sidelines in Boone Pickens stadium are unsafe.

Somebody is going to get seriously hurt. There is absolutely NO room between the field and the stadium wall and they try to pack all the players, equipment, TV cameras and personel, photographers, cheerleaders, etc... into this little cooridor.

It is a mjor incident waiting to happen.

I'm sure it's great for the fans but incredibly unsafe for players and people on the sidelines.

opponents. With the exception of Okla St, he doesn't seem keen on scheduling more strong intersectional games. He said he's interested in scheduling Auburn again (huh? Just played them 4 times in 5 years) and teams within our geographic footprint. Why? I know this was the mindset during the Ford years, but we're looking to establish a national brand. It's time we got a Big Ten or Pac-10 team on the schedule. Something that gets the Clemson name out beyond the Southeast and Boston. I mean, when's the last time we played West of the Mississippi?

rivalry in college football history. It would add yet another special wrinkle to Clemson football every year, and make the offseason more interesting... and it would help recruiting. Plus, we would consistently be in a position to tear down the SEC superiority perception.

Re: First game of the season, every season. Biggest week-one

Oct 4, 2012, 3:33 PM [ in reply to First game of the season, every season. Biggest week-one ]

I'd prefer to play a cupcake in the opener then go UGA. I like to tune up before having such a big game.

However I'd love it if we could make it a permanent rivalry.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The luster of that series has been dead for years, back when

Oct 4, 2012, 6:01 PM [ in reply to Um... just keep a permanent home and home with UGA.*** ]

CU & UGA were consistent Top 10 teams, & Ford & Dooley were our coaches. Now, not so much. And I don't even like UGA. We tried that back in early 2002's and it wasn't so great.

I'd rather play someone that garners us "real" national attention.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let's just schedule a Top 10 or 15 team. When we

Oct 4, 2012, 6:26 PM

start to schedule and beat pre-season or perrenial Top 10 team again, we'll start getting more of the attenion that we want.

FLORIDA PLEASE!!!!

Oct 5, 2012, 2:45 PM

Talk about two teams that have awesome stadiums to play in and the implications towards recruiting would be huge for us to do a home and home with Florida! I've always wanted to go to a game in the "swamp" and it's not that far for our fans to travel. I can't understand why we've never scheduled this. Not to mention think of the quote Urban Meyer said last year about "Death Valley", by putting them on the schedule it gives us more exposure because everyone knows Florida and it will show some of their fans who travel to us why we are able to steal so many of their recruits. Not to mention beating them shows we can go toe to toe not only recruiting but on the field with these guys too!!!
