Seems to be our forgotten QB lol. Glad to see him do well, especially since it involves him doing better and not other guys playing bad!

So does Kelly accept his RS now?
Aug 18, 2012, 12:52 PM

Or do the coaches even put one on him? Seems if Cole is #2 and Roberts was close to getting 2 then Kelly should RS to save a year

That's only dependent on Tahj's health though

If he went down, all bets are off.

Isn't Roberts a more mobile QB??

If so, I like the idea of putting the RS on Kelly. If not, then it could be a good spark to get a QB in there (Kelly) that can do some things with his feet. I think having Kelly RS will be the best for the future if we can afford it.
GO TIGERS!!!
P.S. I do think that TB should be better with his feet this year since he's slimmed down. If so, that could help out a lot to get some positive yardage when plays break down, e.g., running for a short gain on 2nd down when no one is open instead of maybe taking a sack.

I meant more moblie than TB and CS... not necessarily more mobile than Kelly.

a hand full of plays where he hands off to the 4th sting RB behind the third string OL during the furman game and maybe even Ball St if we come to play!

Having met Cole I have been pulling for him because he is a nice young man and my grandson Cole's favorite tiger. It is nice to see plenty of good competitive depth that this position. I would think already having a year in this sytem ahs to be helpful esp since CS had 2 springs to learn it. CK will be fine and play lots of ball for us including maybe this year. He just needs to keep his same work ethic and remember the depth chart can change in an instant

It would come down to a triple threat cage match... Disappointed that skill alone determined the spot

I suspect that this was what the coaches not only wanted,

but expected all along. I don't doubt that Kelly, and Roberts to a large extent, have a lot of ability and potential, nor do I doubt that they have looked good in camp, but I'm thinking a lot of the talk about CK and Roberts was an effort to motivate Stoudt.

In the long run, I think this will work in CK's favor.

I think it is better than this scenario:
CK plays back up this year. Tajh remains at Clemson next year and beats CK out for the starting position.
How happy would CK be sitting on the bench 2 years and then he would only have 2 years left?
Better scenario:
Learn in practice this year but not lose a year of eligibility. Compete for the starting position next year, but if he does not get it, he can still get valuable playing experience on what should be an awsome Clemson team.
Earn the starting position the next year with 3 years of eligibility remaining.
