When is the last time SCar has boosted our schedule strength

Jun 20, 2011, 10:06 AM

You know you're in a terrible moment in time when that happens. Is the world ending soon?

So, yeah--perhaps last year--but for the past couple of years--you gotta be kidding.

strength of schedule, you should worry more about how many players you will have when it comes time to play us.

OH thats right you guys only get rid of the ones you need to get rid of so you can free up more scholarships!! Everyone else gets 5 tries!!

Hey Garcia and Holloman don't worry about that trouble you got into we will see you in the fall, Hampton your grades are slipping don't let the door hit ya where the sun don't shine.

Truth about Hampton is more than likely someone is going to "qualify" that wasn't projected to, so we need another scholarship!!

yep when they got word that Manning High School somehow got that defensive tackle to qualify, they had to find a slot for him.

I was thinking about Kornbutt's artile on Duke's as well

trust me when I say this, but NO ONE in this area had any idea that Dukes was going to be able to qualify...the figured he was headed to prep school if not JUCO.

The only reason "at South Carolina" is listed is

Jun 20, 2011, 12:36 PM [ in reply to When is the last time SCar has boosted our schedule strength ]

because of the environment AROUND the stadium as opposed to INSIDE the stadium.

And that's what their schedule looks like every year.

Jun 20, 2011, 10:25 AM

Its a lot easier to win when you don't play anybody.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Prior to this year - Last 4 years…

Jun 20, 2011, 12:37 PM

2007 – 2010 - VT played 2 National Champions (LSU, Alabama), Nebraska twice, and Boise. They have a long term contract with East Carolina who has had some decent teams under Skip Holtz. In 2009 VT played Alabama, Nebraska and East Carolina.

Usually VT has scheduled one very good team each year - since joining the ACC (2004) – prior to 2007 VT played USC (04 Nat Champ) and West VA (2005 – 1 loss team).

This year Syracuse (not too good recently) was originally on schedule but dropped the game.

2007

LSU
Ohio

2008

Furman
Nebraska
WKU

2009

2010

VT had Wisconsin scheduled in 08/09 and has been moved to 16/17. Next year the schedule picks up Pitt and Cinn and in 14/15 picks up Ohio State

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That sounds like the old Coot defense of getting beat up in

SEC. Four of seven ACC titles, unbeaten last year in ACC play. Come On Man.

Re: At least their football and basketball scheduling philosophy

Yep, its alot easier to win 10 games a year when you play a schedule like that. Phony! That's right they're a big fat Phony! :)

Their OOC schedule is tougher than their ACC schedule.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

everyone wonders why the SEC plays for nat title every year.

Jun 21, 2011, 12:46 AM

its kinda hard not too when you dont challenge yourself with the non conference schedual.yet they try to make it out like the SEC teams are so powerful in non conference play.i wonder why?

Games against BCS teams: ACC (44 percent); Pac-12 (41 percent); Big East (40 percent); Big 12 (30 percent); Big Ten (29 percent); SEC (25 percent).

Alright thank you. I read the article on Orangeandwhite.com and it didn't say the rankings were based strictly on BCS teams. Otherwise I was wondering how the hell Tulsa was left off.
