Mackey's 2018 Recruiting Wrap Up

Yesterday was signing day. We only signed like 3 players, which is not a lot. Most years we sign 4 or more. Usually more, though. Here are my thoughts on all them players.

Trevor Lawrence
He's from Georgia. He's very tall, which could help him see over the pockets.

Mackey shock level at getting him: Shocked to extremely shocked

Xavier Thomas
He's from South Carolina, which probably helped us in recruiting him. He plays defensive end. He does social media very good.

KJ Henry
He's from North Carolina. His dad coaches, but college, not high school. People say he's really good at playing defense. We'll see whether the staff uses him on that side of the ball or not.

Jackson Cartman
He's from Ohio, but came here instead of playing for the Ohio University Bobcats. That's good for us.

Derion Kendrick
He lives in Rock Hill, but signed with us anyway. I guess he hates money.

Justyn Ross
He's from Alabama, so it was a shock that he didn't play for the UAB Dragons. The fact that he can't spell Justin makes me wonder if he will qualify.

Kyler McMichael
I'm not quite sure where he's from, but people say he will play CB, even though he plays on offense now.

Josh Belk
He's from South Carolina, but came to us instead of playing for the Furman Paladins. That's good news for us.

Justin Mascoll
He's from Georgia, and came to us instead of playing for the Geogia State Bulldogs. That's good news for us.

Lyn-J Dixon
He has kind of a cool name. People say he's going to be a running back, but I'm pretty sure we already have, like, 2 of those. So we'll see.

Mike Jones Jr.
He is from Florida, which is kind of neat. Some people call that "the sunshine state", and I'm not sure why.

Darnell Jeffries
This kid is very large. Even though we need some DBs, I don't think he could even play strong safety. We'll see how he adjusts.

Jordan McFadden
He lives pretty close to Clemson, which helped us in recruiting.

Jake Venables
His dad coaches at Clemson. He's the linebacker coach, which could make things awkward.

BT Potter
He's a kicker, which is kind of weird. Hopefully he can play safety, too. His name is also just two letters.

Braden Galloway
He's from South Carolina, but chose Clemson over playing for the Presbyterian Blue Hoes. He's big like a small OL, but also like a huge WR. Not sure what position he'll play.

Mario Goodrich
He's from Missouri, which is called "the show me state". I hope he "shows me" he can play safety.

Drew Swinney
His dad is the head cheerleader, which is pretty cool.
