Kevin Steele from a Nole perspective.
He was hired by Bobby Bowden and given the title of "Executive Head Coach"(working with the defense under Mickey Andrews. There was a lot of speculation that he was being groomed to replace Bowden when he retired.
He was at FSU for 4 years. He left for Bama when Saban offered him a job. He said the reason was he needed to be closer to his parents. Lot of Nole fans took him at his word. More were less supportive. They took his leaving as abandoning FSU and that his reason was a lie. (Sorta like Urban needing to spend more time with his family.)
Well, he stayed in Bama for only one year. Nole fans said, "See there. He lied."
Bottom line, for long time Nole fans, Steele is one of our least favorite former coaches.

Ain't that the truth... Most painful joke ever? Did you hear about the Clemson team bus being pulled over for doing 33 in a 70? Still hurts, though it was the "rise like a phoenix" moment, IMO
