to get ready for nfl? They already will have an excuse of not wanting to be there and being tired from long season. Now they can add that we had players sitting out.

I would say all the seniors, even those not going to the NFL.
Juniors who could make the NFL will also sit, but those wanting a spot next year will play.
Sophmore's and Freshman will have very little to say regardless.

Bowl money and bowl gifts are not incidental. Nor is the fact that if you go to a bowl game, the bowl then has to fly you home afterward. To your home-home, not just to your school.

Unless you've got a whole lot of draft stock to worry about, most seniors won't pass that up.
