He intends to make sure his replacement will fail. His ego could not allow him to think anyone could have done more with USCheat, therefore he will sabotage the program as much as he can. In his mind, anything he built there is his, not theirs. He will leave and try to take his ball home with him to Florida. Get ready.

Your timing may be right, but your reasoning may be wrong.

It might be to leave no time to hire from outside and to promote either his son or another assistant to head coach for a resume booster or on the job training.

By doing it that way - Spurrier, himself, doesn't have to fire anyone.
