so Kansas State swiped our regional host spot it turns out

not really VT - they deserved to host with their high RPI (11)/SOS (3).
http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2013/nitty
ALL Top 16 RPIs got a host spot except us (RPI-14, SOS-6)
Kansas State 41-17 RPI of 18 SOS of 43 Did NOT make the finals of their conference tourney. Clemson won more top 50 games (13) than K State PLAYED (7-5) Their stadium hold 2300 people.
This sucks.

Maybe it does suck. But you have to beat someone along the way. Hiding behind and RPI doesn't always cut it. Win a couple of series against one of the better teams. Win a game, or two, in the tournament.

...and frankly why I figured VTech would host at K State. The Hokies only have about 1,100 permanent seats at Marsh, and K State is a weak 1 seed. Add in Wichita State making the field as a 4 seed, and you'd have the perfect solution.
But sense goes out the window come tourney time. We just need to look down the road and slay whoever stands in the way. Whoever we're facing is someone we can beat.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. I'm not sure how many it would have taken, but not blowing a 5 run lead very late against the Heels might have done it.

The 5 game skid we have going is very telling to us--the CU fans--and the NCAA Baseball Committee. Losing game 2 at FSU plus the meltdown in Raleigh vs UNC and Miami were killers to the Tiger baseball image. Accept it and do something about it for goodness sakes. We have pitchers that should not be doing that and hitters that need a trip to their eye doctor.

If we have to travel, Manhattan would be a good place...

...not for the scenery, but the opposition.
The seeds would be something like
1. K State (RPI 18) 4. Wichita State (RPI 105)
2. Clemson (RPI 14) 3. Central Arkansas
Now, Cent. Ark. did take a series vs. Miss State, so they aren't slouches. But honestly. There's not a team in that field we can't whup...including, alas, Clemson.

oh, I agree wholeheartedly with that, we self-destructed

but when I look at how other hosting teams did, I wonder why they weren't penalized also.
FSU (last 10 games 4-6)... guess what - National seed. No penalty. SCAR (6-4).....oh, they won ONE of their last 5 games. MUCH better. Indiana (6-4)... their best win was the FIRST GAME of the season vs Louisville (#16). That was the best team even on their schedule.
Kansas State's overall horrendous schedule (we beat 8 teams ranked higher than the best team they played, mighty Cal Poly). Sorry, that's not a host-worthy resume.
