Winter Olympics Mistake

I've read several places where NBC keeps saying the Olympics is the biggest event in sports.

That's not correct. I've read up on it and its the World Cup, especially over the Winter Olympics.

I guess it's according to what the biggest is referring to. Is that number of events, number of athletes, or popularity?

If it's events or athletes then it probably is the biggest. No where close to most popular

Just depends on how you measure.

The Olympics has MANY more countries involved and has 50 times the number of competitions. That leaves a lot of opportunities for a lot of eyes. Technically the Olympics could get get 10 times the viewing hours but still have half the viewers.

It depends on where on the globe you hail from. In Brazil it's certainly soccer, in Columbia it once was girl's basketball but now it's Alabama football (again).
