Does every single news story have to be vetted through the lense of the political left?

Not a news story. It's his opinion. I don't like his tone, but it's not a news story vetted through the lens of the political left. But when you're a hammer everything is a nail, right?

I suspect the Neb folks knew this but were just trying to ply to their crowd and appear proactive

They're leaving the BIG sooner, or later. They've never been a good fit geographically, socially, or politically.
It's just a matter of time.

I think that the BXII is actually due for a big shake-up/renegotiation and they will target Nebraska ... and Nebraska *might* decided that going through Texas is easier than Wisc.
I don't think Neb likes being Iowa - West and I don't know how the B10 will keep things together. There is more discord there than any other conference at the moment. Nebraska basically cut-off their potential recruiting bed. They can't dip southward for Tex, Missou, Kansas recruits, etc as easily - I am sure they must be aware of it now. I mean, how are you going to recruit a Dallas kid to go play in Minn/Wisc in November? Lincoln is cold in Nov, but then you are hosting TCU etc at that time. I don't know how much the B10's money payment will hold Neb (more focused on winning) than say a Maryland (who re looking for pay to play)
I think the path for the BXII to 12 becomes easy with adding Neb to the slate and then maybe targeting AirForce or BYU

You also forgot academically... since the B10 was miffed that Neb basically mislead them on some of their academic progress.

I did not know that. It does really sounds like a bad fit.
Like you, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up back in the BigXII at some point.

letting them out of their contract with the BigSkeered10 under some "detriment to the University" argument. Their conference is supposed to regulate their athletics, not erase them.

I would be inclined to agree.
I mean, the B1G isn't providing games due to liability concerns on the part of each constituent member...okay, their right, I guess, but if a school is willing to bear the brunt of those liability concerns and forge on ahead, if they can find games of their own, how is it the conference's place to stop them? And doesn't Nebraska get at least four OOC games anyhow? Again, how can the conference stop those?
Especially given how unprecedented this whole COVID thing is, it's hard to believe there's any language in their conference contracts that covers pandemic response.
