WRU By the Numbers

Dec 14, 2018, 12:09 PM

Looked up these stats last night after Mike William's stellar game. Pretty cool to see it pooled together to see. Basically we have half the number of WR's and TE's currently in the NFL compared the remaining history of Clemson football. Nuk is great, but he is still chasing Dwight Clark (48) for TD's (* thank you to the comment below that corrected my mistake including Jimmy Orr who played at UGA, not Clemson). And current NFL Tigers have a 6-5 lead on the former players in terms of 1000+ career receiving yards if you count TE's.

And with what we have in the pipeline now (Tee/Justin/Amari/DK with Ngata and Ladson on the way) it's going to be fun to watch WRU explode!

Go Tigers!

I thought I remembered him scoring a TD, but couldn't remember how. Also, some of these guys (like MW81 last night) have scored rushing TD's and several have done the same as returners.

If you take it a step further and compare the number of WR's we have had make it to the NFL since Dabo Swinney first became WR coach compared to the entire history before Swinney it's even more striking.

By my count we've had 16 WR's make it to the NFL since Swinney arrived in 2003. We only had 10 in the previous 84 years since the NFL started compared to 16 in the past 15 years. As you mentioned, that number will be even more impressive in 4 or 5 years when we have another 5 or 6 guys in the NFL.

Don't understand how you could have missed this one if you're counting TEs. One of the greatest. RIP
