Venables is a good coach

Dabo's recruiting on the D side is the problem. Come on Dabo! There is more to football than great skill players.

The Defense Grew Up in the 2nd Half and made big plays

Oct 7, 2012, 7:36 AM

Held GT to 10 points and actually got 2 back with the safety........

I saw a defense that grew up right in front of us

I admit, coaching adjustments are better this year

Oct 7, 2012, 7:41 AM

And it appears BV is changing personnel out who don't get it done. Meeks was only aggregious exception I could see.

I do agree that Venables is taking out some that aren't getting it done. I think he's a little slow in deciding some times. The bench is a great tool in the teaching of athletes in team sports. I think no player should be immune to it if even for just one play, no matter how badly you expect a backup to perform. I am a Clemson fan through and through and don't want any of our players to feel unloved. I want to see all our players perform well. That being said, our coaches must not have any confidence at all in our backups at safety. The performance at those spots so far this season has been horrendous. Good luck and God bless those guys the rest of the year, they need it. Go Tigers!!!

So true. Looks to me as they are getting better every game. Its slow though. You have to expect that with a young players. Its coming together and we will be fine as the season gets into full swing after the break.

Yes he is...

Oct 7, 2012, 7:57 AM

He is working with what he has for now and you can sense his frustration...

I noticed numerous times yesterday on the option, 2 and 3 players were keying on the same offensive player. I know the coaches did not teach that... The players are more concerned about themselves making the play rather than the big picture... Reminds me of Pee Wee football where all 11 players are chasing the ball instead playing the position!

Stick to the basics and the rest will take care of itself...

I agree with you 100% saw numerous times 2 players key on the quarterback and lose the angle on the pitch man. It was extremely frustrating to watch. Also Meeks continued to take terrible angles and would miss the tackle. I do believe that the defense played much better in the 2nd half and made more plays. Venables will make this defense better as the season goes on and he tweeks personel.

Those were the recruits Steele wanted. BV came to CU late

Oct 7, 2012, 8:52 AM

in the last recruiting season. I expect to see a young D again next year as he brings in the players he wants to match his system.

I don't hear USuC using their 'young D' as an excuse!

Oct 7, 2012, 9:10 AM

That tired excuse needs to stop!

About Clemson, yes. And it got old in a hurry. It is time for anyone using that tired excuse to stop. I see it on this board too.
