Vanilla Football and Building Depth

Dec 12, 2017, 12:37 PM

Many people are stating that Clemson had a down year in Football this season. I disagree with that statement.

For one, the offense was signaling plays that were basic in nature and extremely vanilla. Basic running between the tackles, and basic pitch and catch in the flats. We didn't see many deep post routes, but there were some good long passes made to Dion Cain and Ray Ray McCloud. Even Hunter Renfrow got into the mix toward the end of the season with a few touchdown grabs of his own. If you will notice, the offense started opening up that playbook a little bit more as soon as Championship season began. It began with the slaughtering of the Gamecocks in William Bryce Stadium. Another note to take into account would be that we were gaining a comfortable lead on our opponents early in the season. The opponents were only able to get back into the game because we took our starters out.

I have a feeling that the Playoff Game with Alabama won't even be close. We may just stomp them really good.

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

When was Bama last blown out in a game that mattered?

I think we can win, but neither Bama or Clemson has been "blown out" by any team in recent history.

Before we stomped Ohio State last season, when was the last time they were blown out?
