USC student can't figure out how to get cell phone back

Apr 9, 2013, 9:41 AM

In link below, USC student loses his phone at the Blatt PE fields, their Fike, intramural fields. He posts on Facebook that is someone finds it, they should text or call him. One of his friends comments that will be hard to do and the USC student can't figure out why.

Another example of folks educated beyond their intelligence

I had a co-worker riding in my old truck one time who was amazed at the airbag sensor. She couldn’t figure out why it was needed. So I just said something to the effect of “well airbags are expensive to replace so the sensor is to let the car know that nobody is in the seat, or they are too small to reach the dash anyway in an accident, so it will not activate.” So her response was “why don’t they have one on the driver’s seat?”

She was an Emory graduate.

I have one better than that. I went to pay my cell phone bill one day and the young lady (not a blond) asked me my number. I said, my number is easy to remember, it's the year I was born ... 1817! She said, "Really, Did you ask for that number or was it assigned to you?" I told her that some mornings I felt like I was 180 years old but I really wasn't. Probably a chapel hill girl!

If this guy has another phone that is an extension to the one he lost, it would ring if he was called. Probably doesn't have more than one phone but it does work that way.

affected the car's gas mileage.

Of course that didn't have anything to do with her education, or failure thereof.

the idea of not having it with you is unfathomable.

I once used a gift card to pay for a meal at a restaurant

Apr 9, 2013, 12:05 PM

The meal cost less than the amount on the card, but the waitress argued that I still owed her what was actually the balance remaining on the gift card. She had to confirm with her manager that I wasn't trying to pull one over on her.

During the energy crisis years ago, I would drive with my lights off at night to save energy.

My gas gauge on my car quit working, so I had to check the level with a match.
