Traveling 123 or 76 for noon game?

Normally I have the luxury of staying in Anderson or Seneca with family the night before the game, but this weekend I'll be driving up Saturday morning. I know traffic will suck in all directions, but wondered which way into Clemson from 85 (gville) is the better choice. I usually just park in one of the small $20 lots, so parking is not a deciding factor in the route.. thx..

I always come up I-85 to exit 19, then jump on Perimeter road. I have very little trouble coming in that way as I come in from Newberry area.

Timing will be the key issue, leave soon enough and have no problems, delay a little and might be stuck in traffic til end of 1st quarter, that happened to me one year and sorta wished I would have turned around as it was the year the Tarholes beat us badly, but those are faded memories.

The "trick" to avoiding the traffic is to arrive early...

For noon games, we are generally on campus and parked by 8:00 AM.
The SCHP aren't even set-up at the intersections yet and traffic is a non issue.

did it seem like traffic moved very well for the hurricane game when we had 18 troopers instead of 118. just sayin.

A lot of local law enforcement was used instead of the SCHP

The parking lots didn't seem as full since a bunch of people, I'm sure, elected to watch from home. Since the game was a bit one sided, folks started leaving after the half so traffic after the game wasn't a problem either.

We also come up SC28 (Anderson Hwy) and turn left onto Perimeter Rd. And if you want to save $20, we just park on either side of the road near the Botanical Garden or either right by the Fire Station. It is a pretty good walk, but the best thing about it is that when you get back to your car, there is no delay, you just pull into the traffic. Those parking lots take so long to get out of.

I've gone every which way you can to get to clemson ..
85, 123, 76, 81, 88, I've come down 6mile, up 21 and 11..
all of them are easy at 8am...no matter when kickoff is. so get there at 8 and you won have any problems.
all of them will build up traffic about 2 hrs before kickoff and noon kck offs are the worst.
there is less "rush" traffic for 3:30 games and I've never seen back up for games after 6. you simply have longer windows fore people to get to their tailgates
. noon games have the worst "rush" traffic because less people tailgate. and the ones that do all have the same 4 hr window
if you want to be there between 9;30-11 you better take 123 .
permiter rd is 1 lane so it bottle necks faster than .. 123 and 93 which are 2 lanes.

Thanks for all of the input. I will definately get there early, as I like to have an empty bladder and snacks way before the game starts. I'm bringing my father in law (class of '88); he runs his own business here in Charleston and never gets to come with us. I made some concessions to my usual gameday rituals to get him there. We have both been sick since last year's Syracuse game and have to be at this one....
7 years til retirement, then I get to drive in from Seneca again. Thank God.

Where are the $20 lots that you park in? We used to park downtown behind Keith St but didn't know if there was still availability down there with all the construction changes lately.

The last location I parked downtown was at strode cir and riggs dr. I haven't parked there this year but did for every game last year. It's a bit of a walk but i like the shops and walking by bowman field/ tillman etc. on my way to the stadium.

Get in before Tiger Walk, the brain surgeons will shut down

Perimeter to let the Buses through and surprisingly. shutting down the main artery for 30+ minutes so the players can walk across a parking lot in a suit has an adverse effect on traffic...Who knew?
