There is a reason our quality coaches stopped recruiting him and it has more to it than just a bad high school cheating with test scores. If it were just the school and he were an impeccable student and athlete, we would’ve stuck by him. The reasons our coaches let go are probably complex. Still sad to see him in the transfer portal. Have to think he would’ve done better with Clemson coaching

Pretty sure you can still keep your scholarship if you stay instead of transferring. Now that said, you may very well get buried on a depth chart if you don't end up somewhere else...

to enter the transfer portal, joining, Jashaun Corbin, Deneric Prince and Jacob Kibodi. Corbin is headed to Florida State, Prince transferred to Tulsa, and Kibodi signed with a smaller FCS team.
This leaves freshmen Isaiah Spiller as the only scholarship running back on campus, although they did sign two in the class of 2020 and are still after a third (North Shore five-star Zachary Evans).
For some reason, Richardson seemed to develop slowly at A&M so he only saw playing time in a mop-up role against outmanned competition. Although, he did have a big game against uof6c coming off the bench and rushing for 130 yards and a touchdown on just six carries.
If Richardson heads to another FBS school, he will have to sit out another season and then only having one year of eligibility remaining, barring an NCAA waiver. However, if he goes the FCS route, he will be eligible to play immediately with two years left.
