This should make some true Clemson basketball fans happy.

Mar 5, 2014, 6:35 PM

I have been extremely busy (tumltuous life), but have made major strides on a Clemson basketball article I've been piecing together. The original was sparse (2 sentencesm vandalized) so I wrote most of it myself over time (using Media Guides, Bourret's 100 Years publication, & various sources). Writing with a lot of fact-finding, sources, and connecting random factoids into a cohesive piece of writing is always a challenge. I am happy with non-zealous format I came up with. Still working on it; trying to make it enjoyable, but yet concise. A work in progress...

Poor Larry. You sort of gave him short shrift

Gee, you're all compliments '74. ;) I may add more, but I really have too much now. He was Barnes' assistant afterall (so he is at the end). Accentuate the positives.

Not enough room to do every Clemson basketball coach.

Feel free to add anything here:

Well done,***

if anyone would like to add anything.

I guess you used the Oklahoma Bball page as a template

Mar 6, 2014, 9:48 AM

since there are a few references to Oklahoma where Clemson should be:

Drake is the only Oklahoma coach who has been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

In those seasons, three coaches have led the Sooners to at least one postseason tournament: Mary King, Annie Tribble, and Jim Davis.

Also, you have BB's record only updated through his first season. He has also posted records of:
16-15
13-18
Making a total of 51-45 for his career (not yet including this year).

"work in progress"

All articles there are. No one has bothered to update anything (also coot vandalism).

I wrote all of the text though; linking to other articles is also a pain. The editing templates are hard to read / navigate too.

Never seen the OU page.

Well I fixed it for ya.***

Great job, only complaint is about the picture of LittleJohn… If you can change the picture, grab one from the Duke game this year! Don't show people a game with bad attendance :)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That one was already there. I haven't had time to search

and download photos, and photos that go in wikicommons (public domain) have to be photgraphed personally or used by permission. If not, they are usually deleted.

Take a picture of a picture....

then it's your right?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Proud of your efforts. Thanks for all the hard work. +1***

Solid edit.

Mar 6, 2014, 10:26 AM

Now fix the table in this one!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Clemson_Tigers_men%27s_basketball_seasons

I also wanted to see average attendance added as a column to that table, but not sure it ever will get there.

Cole @ Beach Cole w/ Clemson Hat

You fix it. ;) Seriously, that collection of fact writing

Mar 6, 2014, 12:03 PM

took a while (to do it right). I fixed the "since 2005" table last night, re-organized awards section, adding missing names.

These 2 pages could use some work (saving bigger highlights for the main page):

Mar 6, 2014, 10:52 AM

This is awesome. Thanks for spending the time on it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's great...what stands out

Mar 7, 2014, 4:13 PM

and I always forget is Banks McFadden. He must have been some kind of athlete.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He was, but, I think McFadden also had a loftier

profile being a multi-sport athlete. Also being fortunate and lucky enough to be picked as an All-American back then is why he is remembered so well.

What I learned from writing this article was we had several great athletes over the years, who deservingly needed some praise:

Bill Yarborough was one: averaged 28.3 points per game in mid-1950's. (on a very, very mediocre team)

Jim Sutherland & Randy Mahaffey was another-- first pro basketball player from CU.
