sucks it was because of injury but he was not going to overtake a 3 year starter and likely next years starter anytime soon.

This is his opportunity to show what he has and run with it. He was pretty highly regarded as a kicker out of HS and has decent leg strength. He has also been in the program for 4 years so he knows the importance of Next man up and the culture that Dabo has built.

I said this yesterday and repeat today: I'm not worried about Spence at all. I think Groomes will man the kickoffs and Spence will manage the FG and PATs

Rewatched his HS film and he was a darn good placekicker .
Kickoffs generally fall at or just short of the goal line so unless he's improved his overall distance thete we can expect to defend a fair amount of returns...considering we'll score so much ??

I'm not as worried as I used to be about kickoff return coverage. We have talent and speed to prevent long returns. We are currently giving up 19 yards a return on 11 returns, 10 kickoffs were touchbacks.
