The new Coke cans for the

Jan 18, 2019, 11:53 AM

National Championship are nice, I guess, but are nothing compared to the ones put out for the 1982 National Championship. Those cans, which were produces in Bennettville, were orange with the championship on one side and the schedule on the other. The Coke bottles followed the same format. There is also one thing I could not find for our last championship that I have for the 1981 championship and that is large beer mugs with the Championship on one side and the schedule on the other. I know they would not be cheap, but are worth the cost. I have two from 1981 and my son and daughter will get one each when I no longer have an interest in them. What do you folks think?

All the Coke products from back then were far superior to what they're issuing now. I haven't even bothered with the new ones. They would look so puny and lame compared to the 1981 ones.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I had some cans from the 81 season, they were simply called Orange Crush or something like that. They were a custom run. I had those for years. My last house I had them up on a mantle along with the bottle. When I moved, I went to get those cans down and they were stuck to the mantle. They had leaked over the years and just oozed out all the sugary chemical crap. All the liquid was gone. I had two empty but unopened cans! And one sticky, messy mantle....

I still have some cans and bottles from 1981, but I wish they would make those 2018 NCP beer mugs like the 1981 I described earlier. They were definitely worth displaying.
