Take on FSU vs Clemson D as it relates to Louisville Game

Sep 25, 2016, 12:34 PM

For years my perception of FSU D has been..they are supremely talented and rely on letting that talent play rather than scheming for their opponent..
By comparison.. We are also very talented..but fortunately have one of the hardest working and smartest d-coordinators in college football..
Against FSU.. Louisville saw many plays with wide receivers running free in the secondary..as FSU was repeatedly out of position and unprepared for Petrino's complexities..
Granted the Louisville QB is very very talented..but I don't think he's seen a D like ours .. One that is talented and very prepared..
We need to frustrate him and pressure him constantly..
And I suspect he'll respond by pressing and putting the ball where he shouldn't ..and when he does we have to capitalize ..he'll get his plays but also turnovers..which we have to turn into td's...then sit back and watch him implode under the weight of his own hype (hopefully)

I'm sure that the Tigers will put a spy on The QB just as they would with an option QB. Marshall tried to do this but wasn't successful. I'm wondering who will get that challenge from Dabo. ODaniel might be a good choice. I really like the way he plays. Wonder if Bryant will be ready to play? Good to have guys like Wilkins, Watson and Lawrence when teams like Lville come to town! Looking forward to a great night in Clemson. CU in the valley

O'daniel would be a good choice to spy ..
Really this game is very similar to playing GT..
Not scheme wise..the offenses are vastly different, but in the absolute necessity for our defense to read their keys and stay in position no matter what "window dressing" they see in front of them..our d-line should treat the Lou QB as an option QB and eliminate the read option from being effective..force him to beat us with his arm alone..and the secondary has to stay home..
Our d-line is capable of dominating any o-line we face and will need to do just that..

Can I like this post 18 times?
It was exactly what I was going to say.

Our D needs Jimmy Greenbeans to enforce lane discipline on the front 4, then let the LBs clean up. IF the front 4 lose their lanes too many times we will lose the game.

Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.

Aub is a better comparison to Lou than GT

This will be like playing Auburn when Franklin was in the game. He never kept the ball on the read option though because Wilkins was making a B-line for him on every play. The difference though is that Lou throws the ball down the field. Aub never really did.

On throwing downfield

Yeah, there won't be any time for that.

The front four/seven will create turnovers. We will win by two or more scores.
