Or is it just because NFL teams don’t care too much about RBs? Not sure why that would be the case, but I have heard people say it.

It's 100% because of his position

It doesn't make sense to spend a high draft pick on RBs anymore. The Giants taking Saquon Barkley as high as they did is a perfect example of why it's a bad idea.

I think it is entirely dependent on what your needs are. If you take the rb and have crap for an oline you made a mistake. Good oline and need that outstanding rb? Do it. Of course the pick numbers you have will certainly play into it as well but I don't think it is a cut and dried as you are making it out to be

And end of the 1st round/start of 2nd round is a good spot for a top RB in the draft so ETN could certainly sneak into the 1st round depending on needs. Who was the last Super Bowl winner who started a RB that they drafted in the top 20 picks? If you look at the top RBs in the NFL this year, very few were taken in the 1st round. Off the top of my head I can think of Zeke, Gurley, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Josh Jacobs.
Contrast that with some of the great RBs who have been drafted after the first round like Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara and Dalvin Cook. The sentiment is you can get tremendous value for RB after round 1.

Yep and it's the reason the Panthers made a HUGE mistake signing Mccaffrey to such a big $ contract.

The life expectancy of an rb is 3 years. Couple that with most offenses are no longer geared towards a ground and pound game. Most of the old time run teams had a fb lead the way. San Fran does it a bit. Cleveland and Tenn are geared there. Kamara is now the proto typical rb. ETN will fit that mold well, but not many teams are going to pay after some many rb flops over the past decade+.

Fortunately for mt favorite player this just means he could really end up with a really good team instead of being fodder to win draft day one.

RB has been greatly devalued in the league, but he has made himself into a good pass catcher which will also greatly increase the demand for him. It will depend on the draft order but I could possibly see ETN and Harris being 1st round picks.

I agree with that. I think the coaches are trying to get ETN more involved in the passing game this year and that will significantly improve his draft status. QBs and RBs are only going to be as good as the linemen allow them to be in the NFL. Watson is a great example of that.

Why is AR3 not getting more love from the NFL, he is having a heck of a year to this point? Size maybe?

It’s a numbers game. There are just so many incredibly talented WR in college. Also he is seen at the next level as exclusively a slot WR. His height is going to hurt him.

Role players like Amari aren't usually drafted high. Guys like him, Hunter, Julian Edelman, Tyler Lockett, etc, don't hit pay dirt until their 2nd NFL contracts.

I see him like a Tavin Austin or Cooper Kupp WR. Used in the slot, jet sweep etc. I think he makes a team as a drafted player, just not sure if hes taken before the 4th or so because he isnt the tallest dude, but I hope I'm wrong, would love to see him go in the late 2nd high 3rd. Of course it's all pointless until we see who comes out early.

Ross would be a 1st round guy if he was playing And I have seen a lot of NFL people and guys in the media etc. saying Ross is going to turn pro and not come back to Clemson next year. I think that would be a huge mistake. I think given the type of injury he has if he doesn’t come back to Clemson it’s going to cost him millions of dollars. He should come back to Clemson and play next yea! Turning pro and not playing another year would be a huge mistake. Yes people argue it will cost him a year that he could be making money but I think he will fall so far in the draft because of the uncertainty of his recovery playing an extra year at Clemson will push them back up into the first or worst case early second round and the difference in that contract will put millions more in his pocket than if he turned pro now.

I mean this sincerely: I'm not surprised DK is ahead of ETN.
Good/great cover corners are much harder to find at the NFL level than RBs that significantly separate themselves. Just the way it is.
ETN has a chance to be a difference-maker if he can play all 3 downs and be a big threat catching the ball. IMO, his problem is NFL teams view him as a "home run threat" specialist player instead of a durable every-down RB.
ETN will probably start off as a rookie returning kicks and coming in on passing downs. If he proves (1) trustworthy in pass protection and (2) durable enough to be on the field the majority of plays, he'll get a contract like McCaffrey. Otherwise he'll be a Darren Sproles type of player (which isn't bad at all if his career is lengthy).
I've been saying since the spring DK would go to another level this year. His spectacular progress during last season proved his upside was high.
I love ETN and he may end up the greatest player in Clemson history. However, if my Houston Texans had a 1st round pick next year, no doubt at this point I'd prefer them selecting DK.
If DK and Booth are healthy the rest of this year, it will be very difficult to beat us. Two lockdown CBs + a great pass rush = the perfect defense for 2020 football.

It is mind blowing how the postition of running back has

been devalued in the NFL draft. I still have to believe that ETN's rare combination of speed, power, and pass catching ability will get him taken in the late first round, though.
