We used to love it when the band would crank up Tiger Rag under the overhang after pep rallies

College bf lived in A7.
Walked through to the cafe after morning classes.

I arrived in Clemson at 6:30am on a Monday morning in 1958. My dad dropped me off at Old Main, shook my hand and drove off to his work. It was two weeks prior to the start of school and I was attending Tiger Band fall camp as a freshman. The only activity I could hear came from the loggia so i wondered that way. I went down those stairs and into the Palmetto Room; startled to realize I was in the Football Training Table. The guy at the head of the table was Lou Cordileone of the OL. As I tried to remove my 128 pounds from that scary sight, Lou barked at me, "Look what we have here? Guys, this guy looks like he needs some breakfast. You guys make room" and he told me to SIT! The players passed all the leftovers to my spot and encouraged me to eat. Largest breakfast I ever ate. I can't go by the Loggia now without fondly remembering that morning. After breakfast I found my band guys and life returned to a little more normal.
