Can someone explain why we're the #2 seed if we have the same conference record as UNC and a better overall record?

Also, is there any advantage to being highly seeded if the pools are a round robin?

NC owns the tiebreaker due to records vs NC St. Higher seed is an advantage in pool play because higher seed advances in the event of a tie.

Same concept as football

If us and FSU go 7-1, it’s not based on overall, it’s based on tiebreakers. Only difference is we’re guaranteed to play each other in football.

Powerful stupid format.

If you are going to design a format so that a maximum three games are played by teams prior to advancing to the championship, just play a 16 team position bracket: single elimination!!!

In the ACC case, #1 and #2 get byes.

I've been wrong two times, but this isn't one of them.

We would have to play a maximum of 4 games, with a day of rest, to win the conference. Coots would have to play a minimum of 6 games in a row to win the SEC.

Sold, we have to win 4, coots would have to win 6

I agree. I don’t like this pool play format. Also I fon’t Like that Clemson has to play 2 days back to back and UNC doesn’t.

Pool play is ridiculous when the pool is only 3 teams. Then again this is the ACC. Unless all teams play each other in the regular season then rankings are screwed up any way. Just should make sure all teams play each other and forget the tournament. Or just pick the top 8 and do a double elimination like in the old days.

We are at an advantage here I think. Assuming notre dame wins we would throw our best guy out wednesday. If they lose that game means nothing and then we would throw our best guy against Miami. Winning both would be great though.

So say ND beats Miami, then we beat ND, then we can

lose to Miami and still win? Or if Miami beats ND, we could lose to ND and if we beat Miami, we are in?

Yes we need to beat the Miami notre dame winner to advance. Our seed is the tiebreaker.

see how fun pool play is?***

Wed are eliminated - plain and simple -

even though they have to play another game against the 1,2,3,or4 seed - all of which will be meaningless. -

so why even play it...

Just give the high seed a bye and call it single elimination -

Pool Play is stupid - jus sayin.

Since we don't get a bye , why not play ND first day, win and have day off before facing the winner of ND/Miami.They would have the back to back games.

because you’re then having to throw

Your #1 guy vs ND #1 guy. The way it’s set-up, both ND and Miami #1’s are spent before they play Clemson. We can also choose when to throw our#1 based on the outcome of ND vs Miami
