Rencher and Lawrence: Unity, not revolt, as they lead the way to see season played

Clemson running back Darien Rencher and quarterback Trevor Lawrence met with the media Monday evening to discuss the duo’s march to the forefront of the #WeAreUnited and #WeWantToPlay movements. Rencher signed off on the interview by saying, “We are united, and we want to play.” Full Story »

Love these guys. But one thing doesn't make sense....

...the whole "we're safer here" argument may be true, but it doesn't actually make sense. These kids won't be sent "back to their communities." School is about to start and the student body is returning to campus. These players are students first, so they'd still be at Clemson with or without football. no one has to "go home."

I think the difference is that while in "training camp" and during the season they are under close scrutiny, tested weekly, with close medical supervision and reminding each other about what's at stake and to follow the rules. If football is over it will be "back to the keg party!"

Both of these young men will have a legacy to look up to.

Trevor for both what he accomplished on the field, but also for his involvement and leadership on these social issues.

Darien came from being a walk-on to a role player, but more importantly, has added his voice to a nationwide chorus that reflects well on himself and also the university.

Proud of them both
