Sunday research project on streaks

We have been giving the Coots a hard time about their trio of 5 peats (pending our game this November), so I decided to do a little research. This is nothing for them. In 2004, they ended 3 losing streaks: Ole Miss at 5 games, Tennessee at 12 games, and Florida at 14 games. Their only other streak in the modern era was Georgia, which ended in 1981 at 10 games.

So in fairness, I looked at our schedule vs power 5 opponents this season. We have zero active streaks, and aside from the well documented 5peat to our rivals that ended in 2013, our longest modern streaks were to BC (ended at 4 games in 2007), FSU (11 games, 2002), and TAMU (3 games, 2004).

I suppose I should mention, too, that we did have a 6-game losing streak vs NCSU that ended in 1976, a 6-game streak vs Wake (ended 1947), and a 15-game streak vs GT (1934).

Also worth noting is SC’s 7-game losing streak to us that ended in 1940, although that one will likely soon be surpassed...

I did not look at win streaks, but am guessing that doing so would be even more dramatic in our favor.
