He is the Chancellor over the entire UT system and each University in the UT system has its own President. All the Presidents kind of report to him and kind of don’t. Each school’s board of trustees has a fair amount of power. The NC system is similar.

The Chancellor is over the entire system of Texas A&M university system which is a bunch of locations
The System is a statewide network of 11 universities; a comprehensive health science center; eight state agencies, including the Texas Division of Emergency Management; and the RELLIS Campus. The Texas A&M System educates more than 151,000 students and makes more than 22 million additional educational contacts through service and outreach programs each year.
So in summary, the Chancellor is the President's boss.

Michael Young, President of TAMU was told in May that his contract would not be renewed. Early in September Young announced he was retiring at the end of the current school year.
Sounds like Young burned his bridge at some point in the past and now seemingly has nothing to lose. I don't think the Chancellor and President of TAMU are going to vacation together anytime in the future.

I’m nowhere near his level of success and I doubt I could muster anywhere near that level of humility. And if he’s retiring, all the more impressive that he would own his poor judgement. He could have just walked away.
