Some perspective on FBS games played

An earlier post had a list of teams with FBS games played and no other reference points. I'm not sure what the originator of the list was trying to show but it made me curious (plus I'm bored). This must go back a long ways because it said we had played 35 FBS teams. I looked at teams we have played since and including 2010.

In those years, we played 21 FBS teams, and like an earlier poster mentioned, the majority were relatively local.

In that same time frame, we have played 47 games against top 25 teams and included in that number is 23 top ten teams.

Not picking on Bama, but since they're the bell cow, I looked to see who they played out of conference back through 2010.

Among their OOC games, they played 30 games against:

Duke - 2
New Mexico State - 1
Sothern Miss - 2
Western Carolina - 3
Arkansas St. - 1
Citadel - 1
Fresno St. - 1
Colorado St. - 2
Mercer - 1
Western Kentucky - 2
Kent St. - 2
Tenn. Chattanooga - 2
Middle Tenn. St. - 1
Louisiana Monroe - 1
Charleston Southern - 1
Florida Atlantic - 2
Georgia St. - 2
North Texas - 1
Georgia Southern - 1
San Jose St. - 1

Just thought it was interesting.

Reading it over it looks like he was mentioning those are 30 of the games played but not all since 2010.

I was just comparing some of Alabama’s opponents to the apparent awful scheduling of fbs opponents

They played some good teams as well. We also played Auburn, Georgia, TAM and uofsc during their five year heyday
