Ruining The Regular Season??

Can someone please explain to me how an 8-team playoff (at least 16 teams will still have a shot to make the CFP deep into their schedule is going to have a negative effect on the regular season. That is at least double the fan bases that will have "playoff fever" than now exists. Not to mention a large number of other teams and fan bases that will be fired up for the chance to knock someone out of that top 8. It can't do anything but help it seems to me. Somebody please enlighten me!

Expand to 8 means auto qualification for the power 5.

People fear that once you claim your division you will layoff.

I'm not a big fan of changing anything that still involves people choosing national champions.
