Didnt think you could do that...

Said Dabo would like him to walk-on for football. I thought if you played one sport and then also played either football or basketball your scholarship automatically counted against the major sport.
Am I missing something?

You sign for one sport. What you do in other sports doesn't count as another scholarship.

Walk-ons...

do not have scholarships in the sport they walked on for. Doesn't mean they can't get one in another sport.
1 scholarship = 1 scholarship. Multiple sports is an option for anyone, but multiple scholarships, well, you get the idea.

Nope. Just like parker didn't count against baseball.

if you participate in football your first two years you can't be on scholarship in any other sport, including basketball.

NCAA rule 15.5.9 regarding multi-sport participants basically states that anyone who participates in football is counted in that sport, even if he does not receive financial aid from the football program.

I think if he starts playing in games his scholarship in track will count against football but we will be fine if he tries to walk on and he doesn't suit up his first year. If he is good enough to warrant playing in games then his scholarship will transfer to football freeing up his track scholarship.

His brother was an excellent wide receiver at TT who played opposite Crabtree and had some hopes of making the NFL. The speed looks good. The size looks good. A fellow can make more money playing football than running track.
Give him two years on compus, and then see if he can play.
