I guess I can understand.

My son will be going to a different high school than I did and will likely play football. While I now pull for my high school over the local high school, I can't imagine pulling against the team my son is on.

I would have hoped I raised him better. But in the situation I honestly would cheer for him to have a good game but still hope they loose I can't see myself saying go ####s just sounds wrong.

I dont have kids so I may not get it

But I have already told my nephews/neice that if they go to a school other than Clemson I won't be ever cheering for their school to beat Clemson. I would hope my nephew plays well in their loss though. Just the way it is.

Perhaps since Jim Kelly was so involved in the recruiting process (and will be at a few games this season) he has mixed loyalties. I also feel that generally athletes connection to their university is a bit different than the average fan. Seems to me they often have a strong association to their coach/teammates but perhaps not as much to the university as a whole.

This is because Miami has no fans

Jul 27, 2011, 9:59 PM

Sure some people show up at games to party and ride the bandwagon at times, but Miami truly has no fans. They have had a great football tradition and some great players, but they still have no real fans. Or at least not more than Duke.

Are you blind?

Jul 28, 2011, 3:53 PM

Every time they won a NC I saw their fans everywhere. Didn't you see last year's Clemson game? They had almost 1o,ooo fans in attendance. lol
