Really Richard?

Oct 12, 2017, 1:34 PM

“I’m Richard Thompson, and I believe every person has a God-given desire to work…”

Apparently he doesn’t understand why our welfare system is a huge dumpster fire.

she'd find her god-given desire to work. She would find a way not to starve.

That still wouldn’t be a God-given desire to work. It would only be a God-given desire to not starve.

If people like that wanted to work, they would work (or at least look for work). In that situation, work would be an absolutely last resort in order to not starve.

Bottom line: Richard Thompson is dead wrong. Not every person has a God-given desire to work.

Bottom line is

Oct 12, 2017, 2:27 PM

Stop stealing money from hard working folks and giving it to able bodied people who choose not to work and the unemployment rate would be very close to zero.

You're bottom line is hard core truth bro. And if they'd drug test the people on welfare a good portion of the able-bodied bums that are drawing it would be disqualified for it.

Sadly there's politicians out there that bank on a lot of these people to get them into office.

People that are able to work must , in order to get welfare
1 -be required to apply for 3 jobs min a month
2 -if they do not work after a full year of drawing checks they must work for the City\county doing what ever until employed.
Cleaning city buildings , picking up trash etc.
Old people or disabled people I have no problem getting welfare for nothing.
People able to work should earn their check.

Oct 12, 2017, 5:55 PM [ in reply to Obviously he has never ]

Why work when you can live below the poverty line on a welfare check. That's really tempting to take less money when a 9 dollar an hour job can bring in more money. Surprised the whole country hasn't quit working so they can live it up on 840 a month.

I've always known the difference in people that have a desire to work and those who do not. When I was 6 yo, my dad collected an insurance debit route. Every week the people would be just sitting on their porch and never worked. We lived below the poverty level but always worked hard. I asked my dad why we could not have a nice house like they had, since they did not work, and we did. He responded "Son, they are on welfare and the government helps pay for their houses". I asked if we could get on welfare so we could have a nice house, and he replied "Son, we have pride in everything we do, and we work for everything we get". That has stuck with me for 61 years. There is a difference in people. Whoever thinks everyone has a desire to work is an idiot. At least he did not grow up in my neighborhood.

LYRICS

Says Red Molly, to James, "Well that's a fine motorbike.
A girl could feel special on any such like."
Says James, to Red Molly, "My hat's off to you.
It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952.

And I've seen you on the corners and cafes, it seems.
Red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme."

And he pulled her on behind,
And down to Boxhill,

They'd Ride.
Says James, to Red Molly, "Here's a ring for your right hand.
But I'll tell you in earnest I'm a dangerous man;
For I've fought with the law since I was seventeen.

I've robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine.
And now I'm twenty-one years, I might make twenty-two.
And I don't mind dyin' but for the love of you.
But if fate should break my stride, then I'll give you my Vincent, To Ride."

"Come down Red Molly, " called Sargent McQuade.
"For they've taken young James Aidee for Armed Robbery.
Shotgun blast hit his chest, left nothing inside.
Oh, come down, Red Molly, to his dying bedside."

When she came to the hospital, there wasn't much left.
He was runnin' out of road. He was runnin' out of breath.
But he smiled, to see her cry.
And said, "I'll give you my Vincent.
To Ride."

Said James, "In my opinion, there's nothing in this world
Beats a '52 Vincent and a Redheaded girl.
Now Nortons and Indians and Greavses won't do.
Oh, they don't have a Soul like a Vincent '52."

Well he reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys.
He said, "I've got no further use...for these.
I see Angels on Ariels in leather and chrome,
Swoopin' down from Heaven to carry me home."

And he gave her one last kiss and died.
And he gave her his Vincent.
To Ride.
