The Original 6th man.....I was a huge fan of his as I was growing up and watching him come off the bench for those incredible Celtic teams.....

Condolences to his family, friends and Celtic nation

story goes that red Auerbach told havlicek and other rookies at practice to start running the court back and forth, until he told them to stop.some ridiculous amount of time later Auerbach came back and havlicek was still running.coach knew then that he had a future great player, and as usual red was right.

and his heart rate rarely got over 60 beats a minute. Mine exceeds that just getting up out of a chair!

ditto

i once got to play 'horse' with him and Jeff Mullins at camp

he was a genuinely nice man and didn't seem to have the big ego that a lot of NBA stars had

great write up in the NYT
