Punt Fiasco From Last Nights Game

Sep 1, 2013, 5:56 PM

Did anyone go back and look at what happened last night with that punt that could have been bad news had it gone another way. Did one of our players ever touch the ball before it went into the endzone? If they didn't and it goes into the endzone isn't it considered a dead ball once it crosses the goal line (touchback)? I was sitting on the other side of the stadium and couldn't tell what happened. Humphries got away from it yet our other players were going towards it, it looked really dangerous. I'd love to see it again to see what exactly happened.

And if boulware was touched, was he blocked into the ball? Doesn't the NCAA rule for that state that in that case it is a dead ball. So that would have been a blown call I'm guessing. Just wondering cause it scared me almost half to death last night.

Yes he was blocked into the ball in short

If CJ had downed/recovered the ball in the end zone the "momentum" rule would have applied and we would of got the ball at the 20

If UGA had recovered the ball in the end zone then same thing applies because Boulware was "blocked" into the ball.

Point blank Boulware should not have been near the ball we will chalk that up to being a freshman trying to block the UGA players from downing the ball inside the 5 yard line

You can't put that into the hands of the refs and chance having

the call go against you. Boulware just made a massive mistake there and we were extremely fortunate that CJ Brown got to the football.

Boulware's facemask into the endzone. #38, C.J. Jones had the alertness to pick up the ball and get it out of the endzone. Could have been a real disaster with either a Georgia touchdown or safety. I would have given Jones the game ball. It was that crucial
