"The model estimates that they are 31 percent more likely to cover the spread when they're featured on Gameday, compared to similar games that are not featured.

Clemson is next, with a 27 percent jump in the probability that they outperform expectations. "

Yep, cover the spread being the operative words. Look at actual win stats. Hello? McFly?

Seems like you need to read it again. The point was no one

but Oklahoma has a better win % on Gameday because you're invariably playing a highly-ranked teams.

Clemson tends to cover the spread more often on Gameday than it does in other games vs. highly-ranked competition. USuCk, in comparison, generally does not.

Which isn't the point of the article

Sep 6, 2014, 9:26 AM [ in reply to Re: You mean ]

It's not about wins, it's about performance. They even say the reason Clemson is second is because we were favored to lose many times, so we didn't have to win.

"While some fans of the Tigers may be quick to point out that their team has only won a third of these games, that ignores the fact that they weren't often expected to do so in the first place (hence our focus on the performance against the spread instead of win percentage)."

Is being a condescending douche keeping you from reading and comprehension?
