Practice Wonderlic..

Apr 22, 2019, 6:03 PM

Questions are easy, time management is hard, especially without a calculator.

I made a 32 on the timed test, a 48 on the untimed, which is pretty good.

Give it a try.

I tried the Wonderlic on my girlfriend and she said I scored high because I took my time.

Really hope this isnt whats actually used. 41 on timed and it wasnt hard. If someone really got a 9... wow

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is that easy

Apr 22, 2019, 9:20 PM

It’s all about thinking quickly and moving on. Took it for a job interview once and was surprised at how easy it was. Like 6th grade level math, some word problems and critical thinking. Literally no excuse to score in the single digits. Really anyone that’s spent 3 years in college should get 30+

Article on the Worthless Wonderlic

Apr 23, 2019, 6:36 AM

https://www.vox.com/2014/5/8/5694518/why-the-nfls-wonderlic-aptitude-test-is-totally-worthless

It's not clear where it correlates to success. Certainly not in the NFL. For other jobs, it's value is questionable too.

The written test was developed in the 1930s by psychologist Eldon F. Wonderlic to help companies select potential hires on the basis of their math, vocabulary, and reasoning skills.

The new test was developed to test traits that coaches said mattered. The test closely resembles those given to firefighters, Mehri said, because they, like football players, must be able to quickly assess a situation and decide how to proceed under stress.

No. They do get to use paper and pencil.

I got a 41, but I imagined the inevitability of getting drafted in the first round and $$ coming out all of my orifices in a few days. Made me very nervous and then I started to watch Parks and Rec. How does any college student score under a 25 or 30?

I tutor for SATs and ASVAB(military). I will provide free Wonderlic class for the boys taking it next year when we move around Clemson.
One question on the ASVAB is what is the total the integers from 1 to 300 inclusive?
Can you do it in 30 seconds?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

45,150

Apr 22, 2019, 7:16 PM

1+300, 2+299... 301 times 150 which is how many 301's there will be

301 x 100 = 30100 1/2 of that is 15050 add the two and get 45,150 no paper or pencil needed

2 or 3 involving math.

Not hard, but not sure how accurate of a representation this is. I would have to imagine a college kid who is used to taking timed tests would do better at this than a 30 year old who has had 4 beers.

This one is totally different (and much easier) than another

Apr 22, 2019, 8:10 PM

Example I saw earlier.

This one is almost like child’s play.

The other one had complicated reasoning problems and math calculations that took time to reason out.

This one is super simple.

Re: This one is totally different (and much easier) than another

Apr 22, 2019, 8:53 PM

I got a 35, but I only managed to answer 35 questions. Looked up and realized I was only at 15 and had 4:32 left. I feel like there are probably some guys with low scores that do the same thing because they're trying to overthink it. I was trying to be super careful looking for trick questions, but there really aren't any. Even the somewhat complicated math questions are pretty easy if you just have decent numerical sense because they're multiple choice.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: This one is totally different (and much easier) than another

Apr 23, 2019, 10:12 AM

I agree on the time constraints adding pressure.

Also the othe practice test I saw didn’t us multiple choice for the math questions.

Not sure what the actual test the players take might look like.

36 timed. Not too shabby, but I would have to work over 50 years to make what the typical NFL player, who scored a 9, would make in 5 years, so I won't be patting myself on the back too hard.
