Lessons Learned
Lessons Learned A few weeks ago I played golf with a successful business man and a terrific player. He played golf at Clemson back in the 1980s and still plays at a very high level. He knew I occasionally played with Clemson golf coach and his former college teammate, Larry Penley. He as

Larry Penley is one of the best coaches at Clemson ever! He has built a national caliber program and sustained it over decades. Those people who doubted him may not have realized how many good players turned professional before their eligibility had expired. If Kyle Stanley and Sam Saunders had stayed in school then rather than turning pro the tournament results would have been much better. Those who criticized him are probably the same ones who said that Clemson didn't stand a chance of making the top 5 this week after a slow start.

Mickey Plyler, who has been a part of the Clemson community since time out of mind and a part of this board since before any of us...when I joined in 2002, he was literally one of the few advocates for Clemson anywhere, in any form of media.
Courtesy, guy. Save the juvie mean-tweet posts for somebody who doesn't warrant your respect, or turn in your orange shirt...if you actually have one.

It is fine to brutalize our own but questioning things outside of that is embarrassing to the program. Odd to say the least

I agree 100%. Calling Mickey "Mackey" is beyond disrespectful. If you don't like the guy fine - just dont read his blog. No need to publicly bash him everyday.

There's somebody on here that publicly bashes Mackey everyday? Can you please provide their handle? I'd like to get in contact with this person.

To answer both questions- I'm not a card carrying member of the Mickey fan club. I just don't see the point in bashing someone constantly that can't really respond/defend themselves. Sure, Mickey could respond, but given what he does it wouldn't shed a very positive light upon him if he did.
Anon - you may not bash him everyday, but you get into him pretty good - especially here lately. I get it - I'm aware he misspells words way too often to run a public blog. So I get some of the scrutiny. You have every right to bash him as often, and as hard as you like, I was responding to Bob's post saying he simply deseves a little more respect - especially considering all the time he's invested in Clemson athletics over the years.

I understand your opinion gville, however, I've also spent a lot of time and money on Clemson athletics and schooling over the years and expect more out of Clemson men than half-arsing a blog 2-3 times a week. It also makes the site look bad and IMO this is by far the best Clemson fans site.

and I agree the blog could use some improvement - mainly the spelling issues. Really no excuse for that with spellcheck etc. Was simply saying maybe there is a better way to go about it.

I backed off Mickey for a long time until he posted his blog on Monday. He then writes a blog today about "lessons learned" and insinuates that people need to apologize. He should be apologizing to Dabo and Co. for that crap he wrote on Monday.

I see where you're coming from Anon. I don't think he meant it as a slight toward Dabo - but I can see where one might take it that way. Think he loves Dabo & CU...
BTW- this is not Mickeys scok

Mackey Plyler
bob's post is a running joke, as is the poster that originated the sentiment.
no one hates mackey, well - none of which i'm aware. most that have had their poke at mp do so it seems because his blog has become at times nigh unreadable with errors of which auto-correct could have played no part.
gville my man, i'm sure mackey's busy as are many or most others - maybe even you? maybe sometimes he's too busy to give the blog a good once or twice over before posting? spit-ballin' of course, but it might go along way to unmuddle his message if he took more care in eliminating the gawd awfuls. it would probably go a long way in keeping the wolves at bay, well - save the dissenting opinions?
anyways, that's what i've gathered/garnered from the mounting angst. me? i'm just here to help and hopefully some of the above has done so?

I'm afraid I'm with gville on this one. I too find it rather insulting and disrespectful with the "Mackey" stuff. While some of the shananigans on here is just goofy, sophomoric behavior, with the misspellings, (deer, qweshun, etc), and the constant name calling anyone we disagree with "coot" I get it. Most are just having fun on the board. BUT, and I ask you to reflect for a moment. MP has made a commitment to the program, this board and the fans over the years. I personally rarely read the blog, just not my cup of tea. He may have made some mistakes in proofing over the years, but we usually get the message, and I for one have made my share of typos. If you want to bring it to his attention fine. If you hate the blog, you can pass it by. OR... rather than just complaing, talk to the mods, ate up and contribute your own blogs. I am not kicking stones at anyone, just a philosophy I learned in my career. Constructive criticism with solutions is helpful. No solutions or alternative methedology? It's just flat out b_tch_ng.

I absolutely hate hearing about fans with that type of fan mentality. Those are fans that only love winning, they're not true fans of Clemson that love Clemson. Those are the fans like the ones that threw away all their Clemson gear when we were on the 5 year skid against the coots, and they bought coot gear and they were coot fans as long as Spurrier was there and winning. I live in cootlumbia, the coot car flags and coot gear that was seen worn everyday here in cootlumbia has disappeared. Where did it go, they have bought new Clemson gear and are now Tiger fans again bc of our returned to dominance over the coots. And those are the types of fans that personally attack coaches.

I too lived in SC most of my life until becoming a Marine, and not to be argumentative, but yeash, have seen a-plenty of bandwagon "fan gear changes". Even had a couple in my family. Now I think that some of them really didn't care that deeply, and it would depend on who was going to what game etc, but still, I hardly could t those as true fans. For some of us it's as simple as being in our DNA or knowing what bathroom to use, although here in NC apparently that's a bit hard to figure these days...

If Coach Penley gave you advice on your "blog" and suggested that you step your game up and actually edit/proofread before posting, would you??
If so, I might just have to write him a letter after all.

Calling out anyone as a fair weather fan if we dare question Mackey? How dare you! You question me, questioning my gender, my fandom and I could care less! For the sake of argument me, Clemtiger117. ( aka Clemalum07) and the clash are all proud transgender beings and WE all look forward to standing at the trough in DV beside all you fine, upstanding, REAL Clemson fans! Grow up, accept people for what they want to be, not for what they are....its Obama's America.
