Pittsburg

Nov 13, 2019, 2:39 PM

Watching the Pitt game from 2016 on ESPNU. I was at the game, and it's been a couple of years, so I had forgotten how many mistakes we made on offense in this game. I remember a lot of the game, but the details have faded. I do believe that it made our team more focused down the stretch which led to the ultimate victory in Tampa. The tears from the Bama fans on that cold night made up for the sadness after the Pitt game.

Was at that game too. Even had sideline passes and took a good friend of mine that kicked at Pitt int he 90s.

We got way too many PI calls against us. Kept several Pitt drives alive. We were toast that season, then everyone in the top 4 fell that night. Was wonderous!

We had 630 yards of offense that day. I best Venables was still having trouble sleeping in the offseason that year upset over the defense that day. We didn't help ourselves out though with 3 interceptions. Watson threw for 580 yards, but had 3 picks. All 3 interceptions occurred in Pitt territory, and 2 of them were inside the 20 including one on 2nd and goal from the 3 with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game. A touchdown there would've put us up by 15, and even a FG would've made it 11. Pitt returned that last interception to our 30 yard line and scored a touchdown just 3 plays later to cut it to 2.
