....since leaving as G-Tech's HC. He's had so much free time after football, Paul's been amazed to learn about:

Cellphones

Penicillin

8-Track Tapes

MySpace

The Forward Pass

The Beatles

Automatic Transmissions

Twitter (still struggling w/that one)

Credit Cards (other than Diner's Club)

Women Can Vote

Lots of others... It's a brave new world, Paul.

Did he learn to call plays that involve a forward pass and that the high school scheme offense he tried to use was extremely outdated?

You do realize that we run a HS offense***

No. We run an offense that has its roots in Bobby Bowdens West Virginia offense. It's a mutt version of the Veer, the Single Wing, and the Wing T; all spread out. All I care is it works.

As much as I agree with all that is said, the dude still won and Orange Bowl running the triple option at Georgia freaking Tech. It's like he was trying to fail but still won some. Many other coaches have failed with far less disadvantages.

He was a good coach***

Not so good recruiter.

He overachieved at times on the field but had the personality of a doorknob.

He made the best of a horrible situation, his administration

Maybe but his persona didn’t help his cause.

I doubt he would’ve been a good recruiter anywhere.

I have no doubt he would have still been successful

189-100 in his college coaching career at Georgia Southern, Navy and Georgia Tech. Somehow, he made it work. No doubt, a good coach.

As a scheme, the triple o is an awesome offense. It's demise is that athletes with pro aspirations won't play in it. If frogs had wings, they wouldn't bust their rear end. If a team like US, UGA, Bama, LSU, etc. ran it; they would win a couple Natties before their previously signed recruits cycled out.

I wonder if he pushes his wife out the door like he did the player taking the play to the huddle?

On point, lol! One I would add is calling a play without whispering and smacking a RB’s A double SS, ??

Say what you want, but he still knows not to try a fake field goal with your kicker as the lead blocker.

He is behind the times, not an idiot.

But if there was a coach that could turn a kicker into a knee-snapping blocker specialist, it would be Paul Johnson.
