Pace of play with Ugay

Aug 21, 2013, 9:35 AM

I have been re-evaluating this game again...like who hasn't? It occurred to me when I read that the film of USUC vs Ugay last year is a major emphasis for our defense to study, that GA. is probably watching the USUC vs CU game film likewise. So after pondering that

Do you think UGAy is going to play the ball control tactic?

And does that translate to a 28 to 24 point max pts total for their and our offenses?

This game has many different scenarios that could play out. Spot the dang ball!

They will try and control the ball

However, they will try and control it on the ground, and not through the air like USCe. I also think we have a little more trust in our secondary and won't be giving them 5 - 7 yard cushions the entire game

UGAs D won't look near as good as USCs did last year.***

they'll try. ugay doesn't have near the defense usuc had

last year, however, and won't be able to get us off the field as much. they will pound it, and use the play-action, with their wr's using the double moves that killed our db's last yr. i hope our new db coach has got that fixed! i'm not as worried about their te's as much ( they'll get their catches, but not many yac's,imo), as i think our lb's have the speed and size to defend them, better so than most teams, anyway. i just don't think their revamped d will be able to hold our o under 35, and i think our d will be able to hold them to under 24.

UGAy is absolutely going to try to play ball control

Their best chance to win is keeping the Clemson offense off the field.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

The way to beat Clemson is to keep us off the field, and

stop us from making big plays.

I would drop 8 into coverage all night, making us take more time to move the ball.

Then attack our offense by getting first downs and keeping the ball.

SHorten the game.

Absolutely. It is imperative that our D get some 3-and-outs on UGA. If we leave their O on the field all day, then UGA wins easily.

watch the 6 games we have lost on youtube since chad has been here and you will see what coaches do to win and that is ball control which cuts the game in half, keeps our o off the field. it can be done with run or pass, but best with a balance of both, but the key is to have longer sustained drives that consume clock. lastly, be physical with receivers and knock them off their routes which disrupts the routes. only problem with this press coverage type defense is you must have GOOD physical corners, and bring blitzes to put pressure on boyd. most teams played zone and man or combinations to confuse the o.

"Do you think UGAy is going to play the ball control tactic?"

They'd be stupid not to. That's the only real way to beat us.

And can we quit with the gay slurs on this board? As a gay Clemson fan, I feel like I'm not welcome here. Calling UGA fans 'gay' isn't clever or funny. It's really getting old...

it's ok to be happy. if that's not what you are talking
