How the Seasons Ended That Clemson team returned all of its starters on the O-line from the 2005 team for the first time since the 1980-81 teams. The Tiger's ground game that season was on fire up until and including the GT-Gameday Game where JD and CJ ran all over the Jackets. However, the Tigers lost Roman Fry for the season in that game and the Offense was never the same afterwards.
Clemson rolled into Lane Stadium the week after flying high behind a top 10 ranking, only to see the Hokies bring them crashing back down to earth, exposing Will Proctor's less-than-stellar QB play in the process.
Clemson finished the year with a disappointing home loss to the Gamecocks and an embarrassing loss to Kentucky in the Music City Bowl resulting in a final record of 8-5.
UNC ended the season on a high note with a 2-game winning streak over Rivals NC State and Duke. At 3-9, however, it would not be enough to save HC John Bunting's job. He would be let go at the end of year and replaced with Butch Davis--whom we all know ran a completely clean ship and the Tarheels never got in any NCAA trouble ever again.
