On cornerbacks, safeties, defensive backs . . .

For the more football intelligent. I think I understand that defensive backs are all inclusive of both corners and safeties which are different positions but a good deal of overlap. Please feel free to correct if wrong. Now is there an ideal size? Seems like a good bit of very talented athletes under 6 end up as dbs. Is the ideal size still the taller the better? Is it better for a safety to be this size and a corner back to be another size? Any thoughts on current dB recruiting. Obviously a need if for no other reason than the number of offers going out. Thanks.

to Francis Marion® .

If pigs are so smart, why do 66% of them use weak and inferior materials during construction?

Size doesn't matter

Speed. .

If you super fast you play corner. If you are super fast and tall, you play corner.

Not big enough to play linebacker and too slow to play corner back...saftey.

With the size of WRs now a days most of the time you want your DBs over 6 ft unless they are just crazy good or you get a kid like Carter. CB requires more speed and better hips. Safeties are usually better at tackling and reading run/pass. I would say it is usually easier for a CB to become a S than the other way around. As for recruiting we need a CB this year IMO. I think McMichael is more of a S personally but idk how the staff looks at him as.

i think McMichael is going to be a corner

He is listed as a CB just looks like a S to me lol. He is probably like Wallace and can play both tho I agree.

Mostly just need to be fast to play corner in college.

Of course it's better to be both tall (6 ft+) and fast to match up with the more physical WRs, but that's pretty rare and a lot of those guys end up playing on Sundays.

I would like some more of those guys that end up playing

On Sunday. Our DL is as good as I remember. I may be wrong but I think our lb core is getting to be at least on paper close to what we were in late eighties nineties, and why not throw some ridiculous corners in there as well.

And it helps when the light bulbs are turned on during the game. A certain Clemson safety has size, speed, height, but needs an electrician to get over real fast. Think ya'll know who I mean.

Terrell and Mullen qualify as ridiculous corners.

They are great. Not picking on them just hope to see
