Treadwell did it again, this time in Death Valley. The Dawgs came into the game undefeated (2-0) and ranked #18 in the country. Not to be outdone, the Tigers also sported a perfect 2-0 record and a #8 national ranking. 82,000 fans bore witness as the Tigers rode a punishing defense, timely rushing attack, and the leg of kicker David Treadwell to a thrilling 21-20 victory.

Clemson's No. 1 defense in the nation caught quarterback James Jackson for a safety with 5:38 to go and, off the ensuing free kick, down 20-18 late in the 4th quarter, Clemson's all-time winning-est quarterback Rodney Williams drove the Tigers down to the Georgia five. Then David Treadwell broke the Dawgs' hearts for the second year in a row and hit the game winner. The game propelled Clemson to a 10-2 ACC Championship season and #11 final ranking.

We were out of timeouts when Treadwell kicked the FG. The clock the running when we ran the field goal unit out there. High pressure, time running out. And.............we huddle up. Everyone was expecting our guys to run to the ball, line up, and kick it. Nope. The linemen bunch up in a pseudo huddle-characteristic of Ford's teams- to the left of the ball like they had not a care a in the world. I'm screeming "We're not gonna get it off." Somebody obviously calls the play. We break the huddle, line up over the ball, snap, and DT beats UGA for second year in a row. Good times.

that was the most memorable part of this game.....

you don't often see a game-winning FG attempt WITH THE CLOCK RUNNING. Everyone in the stands were losing their minds.

Man, those old Danny Ford game-winning clock-killing drives were special. Sometimes we'd get the ball with 8 minutes left and the other team would never see it again. 4 yards a play, never going out of bounds, clock never stopping. I'd LOVE a return to that tactic.
