He was more of a recruiter of "athletic " talent than an x and o coach. He simply recruited athletes then went out and pressed all -court all game and these talented athletes created enough turmoil that he won games. When a team of near or equal talent however forced us into a half-court game and we had to actually play the game we lost.

Talked to him one time at an IPTAY event, and another time at the Blue Heron. Delightful man but halitosis that could wake the dead. I think that hurt recruiting.

OP couldn't win with Chicago and N. Indiana playground talent either in a Power conference.

that seemed to believe he was the right fit, Depaul's AD, bought him for $2.2mil/ for 7 years, guaranteed.
To a person it seemed the Chicagoan basketball clique, inner circle, thought 2 things, 1. OP did a great job everywhere he'd been. 2. He was not the right hire for Chicago - he was an outsider.
The AD, Ponsento/Lenti or w/e, went against the grain and more or less leaped because she'd been turned down and time was short.
She got her man and OP got his golden parachute.

I'll take that over never going. This season has been exciting but remember this was the norm under our last coach.
