No tickets - I've thrown in the towel :(

Posted: Jan 9, 2017 12:15 AM

Well guys...been watching the ticket sites like a hawk for days now and I'm finally calling it quits. I have kids to feed and a mortgage to pay, and $2000+ for a sporting event is foolish. Not faulting the sellers - this is simple supply & demand. It has turned from "I can't afford this" to "this is absurd, I would have to sell my car to pay for this"...

So with that, I wish all of you with tickets the best of fun. Remember all of us who couldn't come and consider it a privilege to be there - and scream your guts out! I expect to hear you on TV! Bring home a W for us.

See you at the celebrations in Clemson!

It's 80% tax deductible (100% if you don't buy season tickets), and you can get National Championship tickets at face.

Pretty great deal!

Not exactly. I get 5 season tickets but was told I was eligible for only 2 for the National Championship. How could I tell my 3 kids they can't go but I'm going?

To stay at uncle bobs"

Like that.

I have a wife and 3 kids. My oldest son and I are the only 2 that get tickets. The rest fend for themselves.

You made the wise choice. a handful of highly connected people are making millions of dollars off selling tickets and could care less about who is playing. This is collusion and price gauging pure and simple.

you couldn't be more wrong

there are lots of people losing hundreds of thousands.

There is absolutely no collusion. There is a shortage of tickets. It's supply and demand. Great case study. Lots of brokers sold short and now they are losing their butts.

The only thing keeping it from going to $3000 is there is a lot of great stuff on the 50 on the Alabama side. So, brokers just use the best seats in the house to fill orders and try to get their customers to pay more for an "upgrade."

This is a lesson in NY, NJ, PA, AZ, etc. brokers selling a bunch of tickets to an event they did not understand. They do not understand college football. They do not understand the South. They especially do not understand Clemson at all.

They saw 10% of face at game time last year.
They saw 40% of face for Fiesta this year and Clemson did not travel at all.
Therefore, this game will be a dud and go to $200-$300 by today.
They were ignorant and are paying a steep price.

I hope those brokers choke on the tickets then.

It is still a supply and demand issue not a broker issue.

Wow what a great observation of the ticket market!! Here is the truth. The reason this ticket is not going to 3000.00 is because multiple brokers are holding onto large allotments of tickets. How many tickets do you have left Amystickets? If you were a true Clemson fan why don't you sell some of your tickets at a reasonable price to this fan looking for tickets? Folks there is a lot of tickets left and the brokers will eventually have to sell off. There is several brokers holding over 30-50 tickets and they are going to be surprised when the big brokers they are calling out really do not need that many more tickets.

So where are the tickets on the Clemson side coming from? From other Clemson ticket holders. At every big home game I notice that other season ticket holders have sold their tickets, usually to the fans of the other team. There have been and still are people listing on this site for $2000.00 - $3500.00 per seat. That's for a ticket that has a face value of $650.00. It is what it is, supply and demand. I didn't get a ticket to the game, I screwed up and I'm an idiot. But as I have said before, I only ever order the tickets I need and give no thought to reselling them. From now on, I will order the max I can get and have no issue with selling them for the highest amount I can get.

Lulz at people claiming collusion. Ticket brokers want to make money not hold tickets. They know they are competing with a million other ticket companies.

I have nothing to do with ticket brokers, but I am smart and bought our tix in the 4th qtr of OSU game. Who in their right mind did not expect this????

So, you're saying....

I am staying at the Hilton Airport where Stubhub fulfillment is located. There are a few brokers walking around selling but the price is still in 2000 range for now. I am sure this place will be crazy with people looking later.
