Virginia Tech commit has plenty to think about after dream offer

Jesse Hanson has been a fan of the Clemson Tigers since long before the College Football Playoff run and the 2016 National Championship, so when Robbie Caldwell offered him a scholarship Thursday afternoon, it was a dream come true. Full Story »

Read that both parents and 2 uncles are Clemson grads (?) and he's attended 6 summer camps at Clemson. Maybe this offer just came a little too late.

I'm thinking that he dumps VaTech for Clemson.

If both parents attended, and 2 uncles as well - he'd be.....well....he would be smart to take the offer from Clemson. CU is going to get a ton of on-air time over the next 4-5 years with the lineups we have. If you're one of the big-boys up front next to Jackson Carmen, you'll probably be going first round to the NFL.

I believe the draw to Clemson will be more than what VT can hang on to!!!

This isn't really a Jordan McFadden situation or anything

Yes, he grew up a Clemson fan. His parents are Clemson alums. However, the Clemson stuff that was in his room has all been thrown out and replaced with maroon and orange. The Clemson vanity plates on his parents' car are now Virginia Tech plates.

With McFadden, he was always committed to VT unless Clemson came calling. We knew going in that we'd likely lose him in the unlikely (but eventually real) event that Clemson offered. With Hanson, he knew there was a chance he'd get a Clemson offer. As Clemson was in McFadden's backyard and he was surrounded by pro-Clemson people, Virginia Tech is in Hanson's backyard and he's surrounded by pro-Hokie folks. He knows the momentum is trending up in Blacksburg and he can be part of building something special (Clemson already has something special).

I'm not saying it's impossible that he ends up at Clemson. But while with McFadden, I figured it was an 80-90% chance he flipped, I'd say the odds are similar that Hanson sticks with the Hokies. But we'll see.

Young man will either follow his dream or stick to a previous decision. Attending an All In Q suggests the former .

A verbal commitment is just that. Every program loses players who have verbally committed. In the final analysis, a player has to go to the program that holds the most promise for his development as a player and for his future. I really don't see how this is a contest.

Hopefully, he follows his dreams and comes home to Clemson.
