Man on the Edge: Austin Bryant hopes to contribute right away

It’s been no secret that Clemson’s defense must replace the experienced depth at defensive end after Vic Beasley, Corey Crawford and Tavaris Barnes have all departed for the NFL. As a result, freshman Austin Bryant hopes to come in and contribute this season. Full Story »

He's gonna be load down the road. If he can come in this summer in great shape and learn to scheme the kid has potential to add to the DE DEPTH

Without having seen him in person it kind of looks like he may need to focus on S&C a little bit as well as technique. I believe he'll fix any issues there quickly upon arrival seeing as he seems like a great kid with his head on straight.

I agree. At 260, if he has any speed at all, which I assume
he does, he definitely could be a factor.

Sounds like he's been working hard. The weight room is where it all
starts, and it looks like he's been putting his time there. We sure
need some help at defensive end. However, Shaq Lawson is going to be
a force there. We need some depth.

No doubt he has a nose for the FB, I was fooled to where the ball was and then he was slamming the guy with the ball away from where I thought it was. He's going to be good!!!

Love his violence while tackling***

Even our "average" recruits are violent tacklers nowadays

Check out Tanner Muse. At around the 1 minute mark. He will be a play maker even if the "experts" thought he was solidly or barely a 3 star in high school.

I've been looking forward to seeing Bryant play from the day he committed. Hopefully he comes to camp in shape and ready to play. With his size he could really be a bull off the edge.

Looks great on film. Has good size and speed. I like his attitude and looks like he has been hitting the weights. If he comes in conditioned and has the ability to grasp the schemes on defense, we will hear his name early and often. GO TIGERS !!!

My observations:
1. He has good vision. He followed the ball and not the fakes.
2. He's fast off the edge.
3. He has good upper body strength. He made several arm tackles which a DE is going to have to do to be effective. How
many times have you seen a QB twist out of an arm tackle and complete the play.
4. He played on a good defense. The DL controlled the LOS on most of the plays.
5. He seems to understand his role. He stayed at home when he had to, and chased down the QB from the backside when
that was his job.

Welcome to Clemson young man. May you reach your full potential as a Tiger defensive end.

He does have all that but he is a little stif and not a super quick twitch ath. I really see him becoming 300 pounds and being a DT.

He does not appear to be strong, quick, or athletic in his highlights.

Sorry to party poop but I do not see him doing much in college. Definately not at DE.

I think he is a strong kid, but I agree I see him redshirting and moving to DT.
