Growing up the freshmen

With over 40 true freshmen and redshirt freshmen on the roster the Clemson coaching staff is having to walk a fine line in “growing up” the youngsters. Full Story »

Between guys not making it in to begin with, guys leaving early, and a few each year washing out the jr and srs on ship are rarely as high as the fr. Plus fr are always overstated because the rs are counted twice. We are counting the guys taking a rs and the ones who rs last year on our big number of 40 or 42. It's always like that.

Let's not leave the sophs out. There are 15 sophs and redshirt sophs, several of which are integral to our success this year.

We redshirted guys last year, they are freshmen but

Redshirt freshmen plus the walk-one and true freshmen..

We are so blessed that a lot of our true freshmen that came in early.

We actually have a lot of guys that went thru last year as a redshirt freshmen and a lot that came in early this year.

We have been so blessed with guys that can come in January and go thru the spring game and weight training. It gives us freshmen with more experience than we use to have. It would be tough if we had 40 true freshmen come in for fall came. I can't imagine how tough that would be on the freshmen and the coaches.

I can't wait to see this years team.

Since he was Blythewood High School Head Coach. He should understand the transition from hs to Clemson University better than most. Plus being a former student athlete at CU. His experiences are invaluable. We are lucky to have him.

that was one big advantage of sorts when freshmen weren't elegible. We would bring in over 100 freshmen including walk-ons. By spring practice we had weeded out those who couldn't cut it on field or classroom. Also they still had 4 to play 3.
