Clemson's Get Back Guy: More than meets the eye

Clemson’s blowout win over Oklahoma in the Russell Athletic Bowl meant that the announcers were trying to find things to talk about other than the game itself and they found a topic with the Get Back Guy. And a star was born. Who is he, and where did he come from? What does he say about the job?

jumping offside? I really like him and hope he stays here a long time but that is the one drawback that I have, a grown man that is making over $1M now and having to have one person whose sole responsibility is to make sure he is where he is supposed to be. How would Venables handle a player that was that undisciplined?

Very early for winning "dumbest post of the day". Congrats***

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

Come on guys...give a break...I had noticed this guy before and wondered who he was. I'm glad we was able to find out about him. Had you rather have a penalty? I think we had one this year on the sideline. Don't need them in a big game especially. Good Job ... Smotherman...watching the intensity of Venable and his focus... I can understand the need for this man to do this. Go all Tigers!!!

Really?! I would imagine he is being paid as an Assistant Strength Coach as it states in the article. This is just extra responsibility for him with no extra pay or cost to the university. Geez!

Wasn't Venables a LB in college?

If so he had a 3-5 yard cushion from where he lined up to being offsides.

on the unsung heroes, so to speak, in our program. They all play a vital role in our success. Don't wait for tv to highlight them. Make this a priority during the upcoming off season.

all said they wished they had a coach like Coach V, and that the Get Back Guy was great PR for our program.

Couldn't agree more except, of course, about them having a coach like BV. lol
