The point is, we haven't seen a bump from the title game actually turn into getting guys committed. Getting a few top guys is nothing new.
Yearly breakdown of top 5 commits at their position ( per Rivals )
2015: 7
2016: 5
2017: 4
2018: 2
Not exactly a good trend.

That's a terrible metric to use. 1. The staff doesn't have the same top 5 as recruiting rankings as services, if so Mike Williams and Deandre Hopkins would have been our 35th choices at WR. 2. Even if our staff did just go after the top players at their position by rivals, only 2 or 3 of them may even be in our recruiting foot print. Out of all things to criticize the staff for recruiting and player development might be the dumbest.

Commits from 2 of the top 3 players in the country is super disappointing. I don't know why we don't have 4 of the top 5 or 9 of the top 10.

Not that I like MichigN, let’s get that straight, but Harbaugh used Jake (?) Butt very well. Kid would have gone higher if he hadn’t gotten hurt (in the bowl game??).

If Muhammad is indeed a Muslim, picking Michigan is a no brainer with their high Muslim population in the Detroit suburbs.

Well there's nothing wrong with Michigan that a little global warming can't fix (I spent three long winters there a few years back). But I think the thing bothering fans is that we all remember back when we'd miss on a recruit and the rallying cry was "Just win."
We've won big, we have top facilities,a lake,great staff, great support etc.- really everything short of a Ritz Carlton with free room service for a dorm and it just seems like we should have our pick. But smaller-enrollment, small-town peaceful country living just doesn't appeal to everybody. Nor does the culture Dabo has built. You can argue that it should- but it just doesn't.
Every major program has something a little different and there's just no telling what might appeal to an individual prospect. That said, this is another small class and the staff probably knows exactly who they want and who they will probably get to fill it out. Doubt they were shocked by this decision.
